Local area days out
North Devon opens up as soon as you leave the estate: moorland hikes that can fill a morning or an entire day, muddy river crossings, and villages that have scarcely changed over the centuries. Further out, the coast brings dramatic cliffs, wide beaches, and slow living harbour towns.

Food and drink
Great Wadham keeps its own herd of Dexter cattle, while the wider area has a strong, unpretentious food culture: proper pubs, a handful of exceptional restaurants and local distillers, farmers, and butchers scattered across the moor.
